The Ceremony of High Unction is a precious gift of "life" during a time
of the physical "passing of the soul". It is a gift of love and gratitude. It is an act of intimate spiritual anointing
and the acknowledgment of a physical life ending.
Yet, the High Unction ceremony does not anoint a person unto
death. Rather, it joyfully sends that person on to their next journey in existence.
It is a gentle welcoming across
the bridge to that ‘place’ of their next arrival.
The ceremony of High Unction includes the use
of single note oils that allow for the alignment and release of each of the body chakras. Using one oil per chakra allows
for the simplicity of the chakra to pair and heal and release. Incorporating a special blend called “Listen To the Wind”
into the ceremony calls forth a melodic ancient voice from within the person to help allow their passing. The spiritual realm of blocked energies, memories, or ‘dis-ease’
are released allowing the individual to be freed from their earthly body, transforming into spirit and enabling them to knock
at heavan’s door.
The word "unction" is synonymous with
the word anointing. The Bible ointment refers to both oil and salve and typically contained a mixture of various oils such
as camphor, olive oil, and ambrosia. Oils were used for religious ritual healing and medicinal purposes both through anointing
and taken internally. Also used to prepare the dead and in purification rituals, many applications of oils were ordered by
local government. (For example, if a person encountered a leper, he was considered unclean and was required to go through
a certain purification process for a certain length of time.)
High Unction was created to address of person’s
passing as a ceremonial and personal anointing ritual. This ritual is a specific inner process designed to produce
a peaceful state of consciousness – a gift to the caregiver as well as to the receiver of the anointing. The celebration
of High Unction was created with both the caregiver and the sick individual in mind, unlocking a door in the mind, body, and soul, encouraging movement forward
for all persons involved.
High Unction “Kits” are personally created with the participation
of the caretaker(s) and the passing individual when possible.
